Farming and Rewilding? Our Priorities

We are addressing the topic of Farming and Rewilding on this page in the context of both conservation and farming.  We are in a position sadly where some land must be completely dedicated to intensive farming with high inputs of fertiliser and some agri chemicals, but these must be rigorously regulated.
The concept of total food security for the UK as an island is ridiculous. We must work with Europe on food security instead and look at whether we actually grow the right food.
In an ideal world we would not need factory farms, but our population is far too high for that. I am referring particularly to poultry and pig farms. However, the waste disposal from these sites must be improved dramatically and building such plants should be banned in sensitive water catchment areas.
