Fuel Energy – Changing our Ways
Fuel Energy - What is It?
This might seem like a daft question. Of course we are most familiar with electricity and gas in our homes. We also use fuel energy, petrol and diesel, to power our cars. Increasingly that is also electricity.
Petrol, diesel and gas being fossil fuels, along with coal of course are major causes of climate change because the CO2 they generate warms our planet. Use of fossil fuels results in an increase of the greenhouse gas CO2 in our precious atmosphere.
Another dangerous source of heating and cooking fuel is wood. Everyone loves a woodburning stove on a cold winters night, but they produce lots of carbon dioxide and pollutant particles too. A UK ban on these stoves is looking quite likely. They also are a really daft and inefficient use of our precious trees; even apparently dead trees. Dead trees are best left to decay.
